When Sony unveiled the PlayStation Portal remote-play device recently many people questioned who the PS5 accessory was designed for as its seemed niche. However, it appears the PlayStation Portal is a more desirable device than some expected as it's proving to be as very difficult to find in stock.
As of 9:07 a.m. ET on December 7, the PlayStation Portal is sold out across all major retailers. PlayStation Direct could have a restock very soon, and some shoppers are seeing sporadic stock drops at Best Buy and Walmart.
These PlayStation Portal alternatives are available now:
Backbone One:
$99 @ Amazon
Logitech G Cloud:
was $349 now $299 @ Amazon
Razer Kishi V2:
was $95 now $89 @ Amazon
Nintendo Switch Lite:
$199 @ Amazon
The PlayStation Portal is a handheld accessory that lets you remotely play your PS5 console via an 8-inch 1080p LCD display sandwiched in between two halves of a DualSense controller. However, unlike the Nintendo Switch or Steam Deck, the Portal is not capable of native play. You must be tethered to your PS5 via Wi-Fi at all times, so it requires a strong internet connection to function.
The PlayStation Portal retails for $199, but don’t expect to see it popping up among the holiday sales this year. In fact, its initial popularity has led to unscrupulous resellers trying to shift units at sizeable markup. We can’t stand scalpers here at Tom’s Guide which is why we’re tracking stock at every major retailer to help you score a Portal without paying an overinflated fee.
The bad news is that right now the PlayStation Portal is sold out at all major retailers including PlayStation Direct, Amazon and Best Buy. However, the stock situation could change at any moment so it's still worth checking each retailer below. And bookmark this page for the latest restock updates as soon as we get them.

Where to buy PlayStation Portal in U.S.
As of Thursday, December 7, the PlayStation Portal is still sold out across all major retailers including PlayStation Direct, Amazon and GameStop. The PS5 handheld device has been almost impossible to find in stock since its launch on Nov. 15.
However, PlayStation Direct advises customers to "check back in early December for more details on stock availability." This is not a castiron guarantee of an impending PlayStation Portal restock, but it's certainly good news nevertheless. We recommend regularly checking the Portal's listing page in case stock appears without warning.
Our sister site TechRadar also reports that some shoppers have had success at Best Buy and Walmart earlier this week. While we've been unable to verify any stock availability ourselves, we would still recommend checking out these retailers.
